The Joy Scout

As Northwestern University’s 2024 Sitcom Production Pilot, this project worked with a tight initial deadline.
After being shot over the course of three weekends, I had only four weeks to craft a cut of The Joy Scout for Northwestern’s official Sitcom Pilot Premiere.

Hailed by Erik Gernand as one of the best pilots to come out of the sequence in a decade, its Northwestern premiere garnered a standing ovation and copious amounts of praise.

As part of Clayton Brown’s course on all things motion graphics, I was tasked with creating a title sequence for a show that didn’t exist.
With nothing off-limits, I made use of mythologically themed assets and all the versatility After Effects had to offer. The result? A stunning 90-second intro for a show called The Keeper.

Illinois smith: road to the rainbow

First Year Filmmakers is an annual 48-hour film festival held at Northwestern University for each year’s incoming freshman and transfer students.
Our random genre was adventure, and when we ran with it, we ended up with a low-budget ($0) knockoff of Indiana Jones. We used the first 32 hours to write and film, and for the last 16 hours, I locked myself away with a laptop to edit what became Illinois Smith: The Road to the Rainbow.
